Working with Teens
This course includes information about working specifically with teens. It goes over topics such as specific issues to keep in mind when working with teens, boundaries, confidentiality, generational differences, using psychoeducation and motivational interviewing, and example activities to use in sessions.
Also included, is information to help the clinician work with parents to understand the therapeutic process and the specific limitations/boundaries that apply to the parent of an adolescent client. This course also goes over the use of psychoeducation to help the parent or guardian better understand their child and the generational differences that create a gap in understanding from both sides.
Your Instructor
Ashley is a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed by the state of Texas (#76802). She received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in 2009 and a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in 2016. She has been working in private practice for the last two years, however, Ashley has worked in the mental health field since 2009 in various settings including residential treatment facilities, Child Protective Services, domestic violence shelters, community mental health agencies, and the criminal justice system.
